Girls learn life, career skills during camp

Professionals from General Motors and engineering students at Kettering University are among the teachers at the Smarter Girls camp held in Flint, Mich. Smarter Girls is a nonprofit organization that operates girls' camps focused on hands-on activities and other skills related to science, technology, engineering and math careers. "There is an under representation of females in those types of roles," said Marci McGuire, president of Smarter Girls, adding, "We believe that these careers are a wonderful way to make a living, make a good life."
