Researchers create model for determining likelihood of developing PTSD

Three factors determine the likelihood that someone will develop PTSD, according to a model outlined in the journal Trends in Cognitive Sciences. Activity in certain areas of the brain, exposure to a traumatic event and subsequent changes to the brain were identified as the three factors. Future studies are needed to expand the model, said Roee Admon, a researcher at Harvard Medical School who contributed to the article.
