Survey: Students get more need-based aid from states

A survey by the National Association of State Student Grant and Aid Programs shows states increased need-based aid to undergraduate students by 6% in the 2011-12 academic year. Total state financial aid to students went up nearly 2% as states awarded $11.1 billion in student financial aid, the survey found. States granting the most aid included South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.
