Disaster response gets boost as ArcGIS goes online

Esri has made its ArcGIS platform available online, a move aimed in part at facilitating better disaster response through images and data shared across multiple agencies. After a recent string of tornadoes, for example, Kentucky officials used GIS data capabilities to locate search and rescue teams closest to hard-hit areas, and they have managed to cut response times from three days to six hours.
