Researchers study the cause of the achievement gap

While African-American and Latino students are demonstrating academic improvement, there still is more work to be done to close the achievement gap between such students and their white peers, according to a recent study of students in New York City. A separate study found that the root of the achievement gap could be tied to policymakers, who are more likely to act when data show that white students are struggling to graduate.
