Tetrodotoxin in pufferfish may help treat chemo pain

Hackensack University Medical Center researchers are studying whether a neurotoxin on the skin and in some organs of the pufferfish could be used to reduce chemotherapy pain. They are conducting clinical trials using tetrodotoxin on chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain aimed at finding an alternative to opioids that can have serious side effects.
