Wipes producers updating flushability guidelines, developing "Do Not Flush" logo

A number of cities across the U.S. report that wipes flushed down toilets are clogging their wastewater systems. But makers of nonwoven products say that many of the wipes found in wastewater systems are not meant to be flushed and that flushable wipes undergo testing to ensure they're compatible with sewer systems. Wipes manufacturers are updating flushability guidelines for their products and are developing a "Do Not Flush" logo for nonflushable items.
