Witness: Nationwide denies payouts for wind/water losses

An insurance adjuster testified in a federal civil trial Monday that Nationwide Insurance won't pay for a homeowner's loss if it is unclear whether wind or water caused the damage. The lawsuit, filed by Mississippi homeowners, is the first of several claiming insurance companies should pay for damage caused by Hurricane Katrina. Company lawyers say the company acted appropriately because the homeowner's policy excluded damage caused by flooding.
