Maryland governor may push harder for marriage bill in 2012

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley said he's studying New York's marriage equality legislation as his administration considers including the issue among his legislative priorities next year. "The governor is interested in understanding the differences in the bill that passed the Maryland Senate, the new law enacted in New York and what religious exemptions are elsewhere in the country," said State Sen. Richard Madaleno, an openly gay legislator who met with the governor about the issue.
