CMS launches apps to help track payments under Sunshine Act

CMS has enabled providers to accurately monitor payments and other value transfers, which should be documented and reported under the Physician Payments Sunshine Act, through the agency's recently launched mobile health applications -- one for physicians and another for medical industry users. CMS officials said physicians are not required to use the platforms to report payment data but can use them to confirm information submitted by drug and device manufacturers.
