SIFMA raises concerns about Detroit's bankruptcy plan

SIFMA told Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and state Treasurer Andy Dillon that Detroit's bankruptcy plan unduly punishes bondholders as their debt is guaranteed under state law. Detroit's plan "could have potentially significant, negative municipal securities market implications," according to SIFMA's letter, which was signed by Ira Hammerman, general counsel for the organization.
