South Korea sees surge in issuance of asset-backed securities

With a big boost from South Korea's state-run mortgage agency, the issuance of asset-backed securities jumped 35.5% in the first half from a year before. The latest total came to US$23.9 billion. The Korea Housing Finance Corp. has been actively selling government-funded long-term fixed-rate mortgages to support struggling households.
