Data backup is not a priority for teleworkers, survey finds

Teleworking is likely to be practiced by 63 million workers by 2016, but the trend is not being met with strong attention to data security, according to a survey from Staples Advantage. Almost one-third of teleworkers say they aren't backing up their data, although they follow other security practices, such as updating operating systems and avoiding putting personal data on work machines, the report found. "Data can be the lifeblood of an organization, so it's important to provide telecommuters with IT training and security best practices," said Ed Ludwigson of Staples Technology Solutions.
