Fernando Harb, vice president of tourism sales at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, says his group views travel agents as a vital asset in attracting tourism business. Consequently, the bureau strives to offer ample training for agents to help them with their sales efforts. "We spend 70% of our time on travel agent education and training and being a source of information for them, because they can communicate with the rest of the world. Between sales missions and trade shows, we do about 20 travel agent trainings and seminars per year," Harb said.
