Gay GOP congressional candidate among "50 Politicos to Watch"

Openly gay former San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio, a Republican, says he is running for Congress not to fight about social issues, but to "fix" the institution itself. "My perspective has always been that we ought to allow individuals to make decisions on these social issues in the context of their beliefs and their family," said DeMaio, adding that laws passed by Congress won't change the way individuals approach issues such as marriage equality.
