Misdiagnosis top reason for malpractice claims, study says

Researchers who analyzed data from 34 studies said the most common reason for a malpractice claim against a primary care physician was a missed diagnoses, followed by drug errors. The study in the journal BMJ Open said the number of claims against U.S. primary care physicians has remained stable over the past 20 years and that only one-third of cases were successful.
