Miyakejima, Japan, welcomes gas mask-donning tourists

Tourists can visit the island of Miyakejima in Japan to view landscapes altered by Mount Oyama, an active volcano in the island's center that erupted in 2000. Occasional spikes in sulfur dioxide in the air mean visitors need to bring a gas mask with them as they engage in their volcano-themed treks.
