NFL to give docs sideline access to players' EMRs

The National Football League will launch a pilot program that will enable NFL doctors and trainers to access the EMRs of players online using iPads. As part of the program, every iPad in use during the 2013 season will be equipped with X2 software that features the Sideline Concussion Assessment Tool, a neurocognitive test used to determine whether a player has a concussion. If the program is successful, the complete health records of players are expected to be available online and transferable among NFL teams starting with the 2014 season.
