World's longest experiments finally bring results

In 1944, physicists at Dublin's Trinity College decided to test the viscosity of pitch by putting some in a funnel and waiting to see if it dripped out the bottom. Several drops have formed and fallen over the nearly seven decades since, but none was witnessed by researchers until last week. The result validates the Trinity test and an identical Australian research project, which are considered the world's longest-running experiments.
