Split decision on GM corn in EU

Reflecting ongoing conflicting opinions on the use of genetically modified foods in the European Union, countries in the EU deadlocked yesterday on whether to allow modified corn to be used in human consumption, but voted to allow its use in animal feed. "We're hopeful that this is a signal that the European communities and its member states are serious about ending the moratorium on biotech approvals," said an executive vice president for Monsanto.
