Women who quit smoking early in pregnancy reduce risks

Women who stopped smoking in their first trimester of pregnancy reduced their chances of premature birth or of having a low-birth weight baby, a study found. Early quitters had risks similar to women who never smoked, researchers said. Quitting during the second trimester of pregnancy also reduced risks but not by as much.
