Apple scoops up 2 location-based tech startups

Apple announced it has acquired two location-based startups, HopStop and Locationary, Nick Bilton writes. HopStop provides real-time traffic information and urban directions, and Locationary specializes in maps and data. "[T]hese acquisitions are most likely part of Apple's effort to improve its service" because so many complaints followed the introduction of Apple Maps for iPhone 5, Bilton writes.
