More states consider expanding NP roles

Nurse practitioners can practice autonomously in 17 states. That tally could increase as California, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania and New Jersey are considering bills governing NPs' practice. A recent study, published in the journal Health Affairs, found that fewer state restrictions on NPs were associated with improved patient access to care.
