Preconception diet, health can affect child's health

A child may be affected by the mother's health and diet several months before and just after conception, research in animals suggests. The study found diabetes, a high-fat diet, or deficiencies in folate and vitamin B in the mother could trigger conditions such as obesity, insulin resistance and cardiovascular disease in her offspring.
