Ill. regulator amends risk-based cleanup rule to include vapor intrusion

The Illinois Pollution Control Board has added vapor intrusion as an exposure route in the state's risk-based cleanup rule, following the lead of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other states. The amendment is aimed at minimizing building occupants' indoor exposure to volatile chemicals arising from contaminated soil and groundwater.
