Study links number, depth of melanoma tumors with survival odds

Patients with more than one primary melanoma and melanoma tumors 4 millimeters or more in depth had lower odds of survival than patients with single melanomas and tumors less than 1 millimeter deep, researchers report in JAMA Dermatology. People with more than one melanoma may have a native immune factor keeping tumors in check, one of the study's co-authors said.
