Diabetes, obesity raise risk of open-angle glaucoma

Patients with diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure and obesity face greater risk of developing open-angle glaucoma, a study found. Experts said the odds of having the disease were 35% in patients with diabetes and 14% in those who were obese. Those with both diabetes and hypertension faced a 48% risk. The findings appear in the journal Ophthalmology.
