DISH Network won another victory when a federal appeals court last week rejected 21st Century Fox's attempt to block DISH's ad-skipping Hopper DVR service. A lower court had earlier denied Fox an injunction to ban the service, which allows viewers to press a button and skip prime-time commercials on the four major broadcast networks. Fox argued that the technology violates copyright laws and breached DISH's contract with the company. The appeals court ruled that a federal district judge had not overstepped her bounds in deciding that Fox was unlikely to win the case on its merits in a trial.
