Official suggests contracting officers switch between public, private sectors

The administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy suggested during a discussion about difficulties of recruitment and retention in the government contracting workforce that contracting officers could be allowed to "bounce back and forth ... between industry and agencies." "There are all sorts of issues, I know. But I refuse to say this is off the table," said Joseph Jordan. One-third of the federal contracting workforce has five years or less of experience, while 40% will be able to retire within the coming five years.
