Pain specialists more comfortable with abuse-resistant drugs

Primary care physicians indicated they were not more comfortable prescribing new formulations of oxycodone or oxymorphone that are designed to make abuse more difficult, according to a survey from Decision Resources. Pain specialists were more comfortable prescribing the drugs, however. A majority of managed care directors who were surveyed said the new abuse-resistant formulations have not changed coverage policies.
