Young Medi-Cal patients may not have access to dental care, study finds

Substantial numbers of California dentists are unwilling to accept new patients on Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid program, a study by The Children's Partnership found. Researchers surveyed 145 of 220 dental Medi-Cal providers listed on HHS' InsureKidsNow.gov website and found that nearly 10% of those listed as accepting new Medi-Cal patients refused and 19% said they would not treat at least one of two children they were queried about because of their age.
