First Wind's wind project gets nod from Maine regulators

First Wind received clearance from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection to start construction on its 18-turbine wind project in Hancock County. The DEP gave approval after concluding that the turbines would not adversely affect views of the surrounding area, which includes three lakes and a hiking trail. The new wind farm will be built near the 19-turbine Bull Hill wind farm, also owned by First Wind.
