Md. governor wants more renewables in state's energy mix

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley on Thursday announced his plan to increase the state's renewable energy target as part of a bid to confront climate change. His plan would boost the state's renewable portfolio standard to 25% by the end of the decade, up from the existing targets of 18% by 2020 and 20% by 2022. The plan also calls for more waste recycling, as landfills are a big source of carbon emissions.
