Analysis: Many factors can influence labor costs

Labor costs are typically the largest expenses hotel managers deal with, accounting for as much as 44.6% of operating costs last year, according to PKF Hospitality Research. Factors that may affect labor costs include: contract negotiations; a change in immigration rules that could reduce the labor pool; and possible increases in the minimum wage in certain cities and states.
