Data shows disparities for those with disabilities

The Americans with Disabilities Act was enacted 21 years ago today to protect the rights of people with disabilities as they age out of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. However, this blogger shares recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau showing that 28% of students with disabilities have not earned a high-school diploma, compared with 12% of those without disabilities. In addition, 21% of individuals 16 and older who have disabilities live in poverty, while poverty afflicts just 11% of those who do not have disabilities.
