Exercise-based heart rehab helps elderly, study finds

A study in the American Journal of Cardiology found that cardiac rehabilitation offers health benefits to both young and old heart patients. The oldest patients in the study showed improvements in systolic blood pressure and exercise capacity, for example, after completing 36 cardiac rehab sessions. The findings suggest that providers should be more assertive in getting patients into exercise programs, a study author said.
