Report: 84% of hospitals may have palliative care units by 2014

Palliative care units could be in place in 84% of U.S. hospitals by next year, according to an analysis from the Center to Advance Palliative Care. From 2000 to 2011, data showed a 157% increase, from 658 to 1,692, in the number of hospitals larger than 50 beds that had palliative care programs, according to the center's analysis.
