Another horse dies from Hendra; more people are being tested

The rapidly spreading Hendra virus killed a fifth horse in New South Wales, Australia, the 15th equine death from the disease in that country since June 20, officials said today. Three people who were exposed to the infected animal are being tested for the virus; people exposed in earlier cases have also been tested, but none have developed symptoms of the virus, which can start with fever, cough, sore throat, headache and tiredness and can eventually develop into encephalitis or meningitis.
