Ford to phase out CD player in favor of digital approach

Ford, starting with its Focus model, will begin eliminating the in-dash CD player in favor of an integrated digital approach that will facilitate the use of smartphones, MP3 devices and others using USB connections. The automaker has not set a timetable for taking out the CD players but will base its decision on consumer demand, according to Ford multimedia manager Ralf Brosig.
