Nigeria set for September opening of first generic HIV/AIDS drug plant

Nigerian-owned Archy Pharmaceuticals commissioned the plant near Lagos to produce affordable generic antiretroviral drugs from raw materials brought in from China and provide life-saving drugs to millions of Nigerians not receiving government subsidized medicines. The company's chairman said the firm hopes to expand operations to supply pills to West African nations by December, but its managing director said exportation would occur in about two years.
