Android, iPhone 3G seen as fast-rising mobile platforms

Developers are fawning over Apple's iPhone 3G, with users apparently taking a greater interest in applications written for that platform than for its rivals, according observers at a recent industry roundtable, where a group of 20 developers dissected their preferred platforms. Users downloaded more than 30 million applications for the iPhone in its first few weeks on the market, according to developers who also buzzed about the potential of Google's Android open-source operating system.
