Researchers find way to combine quantum dot, gold nanoparticle

Researchers used proteins to combine a quantum dot and a gold nanoparticle, allowing them to work together while retaining their individual functions. The resulting technology would allow the quantum dot to fluorescently image tumors while the nanoparticle could be used for scattering-based imaging and for the delivery of heat-based treatments.
