Researchers link REM sleep disorder to neurological diseases

Mayo Clinic researchers identified 27 patients who experienced rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder for at least 15 years before they developed Parkinson's disease, dementia with Lewy bodies or multiple system atrophy. The length of time between the sleep disorder and the neurological diseases ranged up to half a century, with an average span of 25 years, the researchers found.
