Ill. students could learn about energy with on-campus turbine

Jefferson Middle School in Champaign, Ill., could become home to a wind turbine that would provide a real-world learning experience for students. The Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation has provided a grant to help fund the turbine. Science teacher Geoff Freymuth, who has led the effort, said the turbine could be used for elementary-school field trips and hands-on applications of high-school physics.
