Calcium supplements may increase heart attack risk in older women

An analysis of data from 11 randomized controlled studies revealed that postmenopausal women who took calcium supplements to prevent osteoporosis were at a 31% greater risk of heart attack than those given placebo. Researchers said they were unsure of how the supplements might increase heart attack risk.
