Doctors increasingly drop out of Medicare, data show

CMS data showed 9,539 doctors who previously accepted Medicare patients left the program last year, an increase from 3,700 in 2009. A survey by the American Academy of Family Physicians also revealed a drop in the percentage of members who accepted new Medicare patients, from 83% in 2010 to 81% in 2012.
