For NAB chief, PSA campaign on mental health is personal

NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith hopes a new TV and radio campaign to raise awareness around youth and mental health issues will help spare other families the pain that his has endured. Smith's son, Garrett, who had struggled with depression, committed suicide the day before he turned 22. "History is a hard teacher. I suspect we were like many typical American parents who viewed issues of the mind only in the abstract," Smith said. "If only then we had known what we know now, our son would still be living."
