Online sales outpaced in-store sales in the second quarter, IBM says

Consumer online spending increased 15% in the second quarter, according to IBM's Online Retail Sales Index. Mobile took nearly a fifth of total online sales, an increase of 28% over the previous year. The share of consumers visiting retailer websites with a mobile device increased to nearly 27%. In-store sales rose 4.6% in the same period, the index said.
