Senate bill would give Fed flexibility on SIFI insurers

A bipartisan bill to be introduced in the Senate would give the Federal Reserve flexibility when regulating insurers deemed systemically important by the Financial Stability Oversight Council. "This legislation is important to provide certainty for insurers who may otherwise be caught up in being subject to the same capital standards as banks," Financial Services Roundtable President Tim Pawlenty said in a statement.
