Want new ideas? Try asking the crowd

Crowdsourcing is becoming a must-have for companies that want to outpace rivals, says Finnish nonprofit executive Pia Erkinheimo. Crowdsourced ideas can be applied to many areas of a business, whether logo design or corporate social responsibility, while offering a level of transparency and customer engagement that big firms might otherwise struggle to achieve. "Even though a company may have thousands of employees, it can't get all the right ideas from within the company all the time," Erkinheimo says.
